The next year (1922) he found a better job with John Wanamaker as and Assistant Buyer who was in charge of their basement Rug Department. Wanamaker’s was a four story building at the corner of Broadway and E. 9th Street. John Wanamaker had become famous in the 1860’s for his “One Price and Goods Returnable” policy that addressed the century’s old practice of having to haggle with a seller over the price of each item.
