From the Admirals House at English Harbour, where he spent his childhood, to the home at 44 Highview Ave in Bernardsville, where he finally got to purchase his own home, Horace always lived in housing that provided comfort and a feeling of security. He had learned from his Dad a healthy sense of independence and self-worth. Betty Salmon also inherited from her Doig/Turnbull parents a self-confidence and a commitment to spend her life in service to family and others. F. Horace Salmon had made a name for himself as a Retail Merchant.

A Head of Household

Within his generation, Horace Salmon also made a name for himself as a Head of Household within a broad family network of Salmons and Doigs and Bromfields and Forrests and Kellys and Zieglers. In the 20th Century century, his four children broadened the Family Tree to hundreds living across America as well as other continents.  And the Tree now includes other branches:  Rose, Kreger/Meekins, Fecher, Garrett, Cooper, Stephens and Compton.

This story has been told by Richard Salmon so subsequent generations can gain a sense of where their lives have come from. Not only the DNA and the geography, but the sense of a life-well-lived.  Horace is indeed a tap root in the Family Tree of today’s descendants.
